☕️ Fife Macmillan Improving the Cancer Journey

In the Scottish Parliament I met with Macmillan Cancer Support Scotland to discuss their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will take place on Friday 28th September this year and is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. They are asking people all over the UK to host their own Coffee Mornings and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone they raised over £27 million. You can find out more information or how to take part here: coffee.macmillan.org.uk

While speaking with them, I also heard from them about a new project to help people with cancer in Fife.

The £1m Fife Macmillan Improving the Cancer Journey (ICJ) service will see a vast array of community partners such as housing, voluntary agencies, health, Trusts and financial support agencies working together to support people affected by cancer. Hopefully this will help develop and improve vital cancer support services further.

Support people can receive includes:

  • knowing where to go for practical and emotional support
  • helping people deal with housing or financial concerns
  • connecting people with local support services or groups, such as voluntary agencies
  • advice on how to get help from health and social care services and Trusts, and;
  • support for family members and carers

If you live in Fife and need any help or advice you can call Mary or Sharon on: 01592 578076 or email: Improving.Cancerjourney@fife.gov.uk to book an appointment.
