Cllr Alex Campbell and I facilitated a meeting of local residents in Kelty to see what interest there is in the community taking over the Moray Institute and running it as a community venue once the new community centre is open. Over 40 people came along to the meeting representing many community groups and it was agreed that we will now proceed to bring in the help we need to look at the options for community ownership of the building.
Anyone who wants to get involved is very welcome and the next steps will also be to visit other projects across Scotland where communities are running facilities.
