Funds available for community groups in Kingseat and Kelty

A community dinner in Kelty Club

A meeting took place earlier this week of the St Ninians Environmental Fund. The fund is a royalty’s fund which gets money from the coal that comes out of the St Ninians Open Cast and the money is available for groups and projects in both Kingseat and Kelty. Since 2004 the fund has paid out more than £1.2 million and is coming to the end of its life with the coaling at the current open cast due to stop within months.

The fund has around £50,000 left within it and the Trustees at their meeting agreed to put aside £10,000 for anticipated applications from Kelty Gala and Kelty Coal Race. Both received £5,000 each for last years events and have been supported every year.

The rest of the monies will be allocated in grants of up to £1,000 and local organisations are encouraged to apply. Applications approved this month were as follows;

Bloom in Kingseat (mnachinery/spring builbs)                    £966.36

Bloom in Kingseat (planters/compost)                                   £998.84

St Joseph’s RC School                                                                     £1,000

Kingseat Community Council                                                      £996.00

Kingseat Sunday School                                                                  £1,000

2nd Kelty Brownies                                                                           £1,000

Kelty Hearts Colts FC                                                                      £1,000

I would urge all community groups and organisations to see if they need funding and if so I can e mail you am application form or have it sent in the post.
