A coffee morning hosted by local MSP Alex Rowley at his constituency office on Cowdenbeath High Street last Friday received lots of support and raised over £1,600 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Many local businesses provided support and made donations along with Benarty Credit Union and local residents who baked and came in on the day to help.

Alex Rowley said; “This year we decided to do the coffee morning for Macmillan given the great work they do right across the Cowdenbeath constituency and we have been overwhelmed by the amount of support and the numbers of people who came along and made a donation and bought raffle tickets. I want to thank the staff from my office who organised the event but also all those who baked and came in and helped. At Christmas time I was so struck by the work of Mr and Mrs Cant from Cardenden who lit up their house inside and out and had people come along to raise money for Macmillan that we though this year we will fundraise for this charity but I did not think the coffee morning would beat the £1000 raised last year for CHAS. However, it did due to all the people that got involved and helped and we are so grateful to them all and to everyone who turned up on the day and made sure every room in the office and the back garden were buzzing in conversation and cake eating!”.

Anyone who wants to make a donation can pop into the office at 239 High Street Cowdenbeath and buy a key ring or ribbon or badge for £1.
