Residents of Wilson Bruce Court Sheltered Housing complex in Lochgelly met up with their MP and MSP this week when Gordon Brown and Alex Rowley popped in for tea and tried out the Christmas cake! Mr Brown said; “Christmas is a great time for community and meeting up with old friends as I did on my visit to Wilson Bruce Court. I would wish all constituents a peaceful and happy Christmas and a prosperous 2015”.

Alex Rowley was also keen to highlight the importance of facilities for older people stating that more must be done to provide housing and day facilities that support older people in the community. He also gave an assure that Labour will fight to keep the free bus pass stating that ‘the bus pass does more for the health and wellbeing of older people than any GP surgery can ever do’. He said; “The majority of people will grow old and we do not know what our needs will be so we should all take care to ensure that we have the very best facilities and support in place for older people. The new care village which is to be built in 2015 is a great example of the kind of facilities we need to build for the future and all the sheltered housing complex’s in the area sets the benchmark. Those who have given all their lives to our communities should be able to live a quality life safe and comfortable in retirement and that is what these kinds of facilities supports”.
