Mid Scotland & Fife MSP Alex Rowley visited members of Kinross-shire Day Centre to spread some best wishes for Christmas.

The day centre provides a welcoming, safe and homely atmosphere where elderly members can feel that their rights and choices are being respected at all times.

Mr Rowley spoke with the members over a cup of tea, asking them about the service provided at the day centre and passed on his Christmas greetings. The Scottish Labour politician was even encouraged to participate in the centre’s exercise class.

Speaking about the visit, Mr Rowley said:

“Services provided by centres such as the one here in Kinross are invaluable to our communities. It is through the sheer hard work and dedication of the staff and volunteers that keep brilliant services like this running.

“The members all told me about how much they value the day centre as a place to come to, and highlighted the amazing job the staff do in providing the service.

“Care for the elderly is essential, and we must always ensure that vital services, especially community services, are properly supported and funded, so that places like this day centre in Kinross can continue to flourish. Indeed, this in my view is a clear benchmark for the kind of service we should have available in every community.”
