The Benarty Heritage Preservation Group held an open evening in the Benarty Centre this week where they were able to showcase many of the projects they are currently working on. A packed centre was able to see a number of slide shows of past and present and enjoyed making the comparisons and changes that have taken place over the years from pit bings to a country park.

Mr Arthur Nevay was also on hand to discuss a number of historical books that he has written including Glencraig the Lost Village which was selling like hotcakes. There is a history of Benarty as well as biographies on a number of local people and political figures from over the years.

If you are interested in any of these works or want to get involved with the group which meets weekly in the Benarty Centre, then contact Benarty Centre.
