Street Pastors in Cowdenbeath, Kelty and Lochgelly

Jim Street Pastors

I attended the launch of Clock Street Pastors this week where Provost Jim Leishman along with church leaders, the police and local people talked about this new initiative for Cowdenbeath, Kelty and Lochgelly.

The new Street Pastor project will be up and running by the end of the year and the idea is that pastors will be out on the streets particularly at weekends in the evenings to support people to get home safe. The Provost talked about the Street Pastors in Dunfermline and said he had met them a few times when out celebrating a Dunfermline victory to which one member of the audience said not often then Jim!!

The Street Pastors have proven to be a major success in both Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy helping vulnerable people, young people and people who have just over indulged to get home safely and they are also a listening ear for people who want someone to talk to.

Their message from the launch was: “Join us as we share God’s love in our towns and bring God’s Kingdom to our streets”.
