TSB Cowdenbeath has this week presented its Local Charity Partner, Fife Young Carers, with a cheque for £1,261.68 to support the charity’s work in the local area.

The money raised comes from four TSB branches in Fife, Cardenden, Templehall, Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath where TSB Partners and customers held a charity walk down the Fife coastal path, a quiz and a bake sale.

The donation was presented by Alex Rowley MSP and Bank Manager for TSB Cowdenbeath, Norman Dewar, to Nina Collins, Development Office at Fife Young Carers.

The four TSB branches have already raised £1,311 for the local charity and are planning to do more this Christmas, inviting the public to drop of festive guests for children aged between 5-25 years old. The four branches will be collecting gifts for the users of Fife Young Carers until 9 December.

Norman Dewar, Bank Manager at TSB in Cowdenbeath said: “It’s fantastic to hear first-hand how our partnership with Fife Young Carers is helping them to provide more support to our local community.

“Our team in Fife thoroughly enjoys getting stuck into fundraising activities and it’s really rewarding to see the impact that it’s having.”

Nina Collins, Development Officer at Fife Young Carers, said: “It’s been great to meet the TSB Partners and customers in Fife who have been so generously supporting us this year. Their fundraising will help us fund trips for our carers as well as a Christmas party later this year.”

Through its Local Charity Partnerships, TSB’s Partners and customers have been busy fundraising for nearly 500 charities across Britain, and have donated over £300,000 since the programme launched in January 2015. That includes a £100 contribution from TSB to kick-start each branch’s fundraising.

Alex Rowley said “I would thank all the TSB customers and staff for the very important donations they have made to Fife Young Carers. Being young and growing up can be tough but if you have the added responsibility of being the carer for a parent or relative then it is even tougher and is why Fife Young Carers is there to provide some support and this money will help them in that role.
