FIFE Council has come under attack from members of the public for putting in place too many speed bumps.
The issue has been brought up by many people on the door steps of Dunfermline and West Fife during Fife Labour Leader, Alex Rowley’s, campaign.
Mr Rowley said: “Speed bumps have been put in on many streets to slow the traffic down and it is argued that they are effective in doing so.
“However, many people have questioned just how effective they are and in some streets people have said there are too many.”
The Labour candidate is now seeking public opinion and wants to give people a chance to air their comments.

And don’t forget to vote in the poll below.

I have no doubt that in some places they are needed and slow the traffic down but in Kelty they have put them at the ends of the streets near the junctions where they serve no purpose whatsoever!!!
In some areas the cars speed up in between the bumps and the larger cars and vans and lorries and buses don’t need to bother, so who is it they are slowing down?
I think the amount of speed bumps is ridiculous and then there are some roads which need speed calming measures but don’t get them. I do think the speed bumps have become hazards because a lot of them have rotted away leaving holes and sharp edges. They need repaired but like the roads - it ain’t happening!!!!! Fife Council needs to get its act together. I know loads of folk who have had to get their cars repair because of potholes and speed bumps.
Definitely hazards and a waste of tax payers money! People just swerve to avoid the humps which make them even more dangerous. I agree that they’re worse when their condition has deteriorated. The row of speed bumps near the sorting office is beyond belief. Barely humps - more like deliberate potholes manufactured by Fife Council! They might as well throw some rubble into the road! If you can’t fix them, don’t build them!
If we did not have clowns behind the wheel then we would not need all these things sticking up in the road, so I would say when you get elected Alex get the police out on the streets with their speed guns and charge the boy racers and then the rest of us won’t have to drive over these ridiculous humps of tar. If they would use the tar to fix the socking mess of many roads then that would get my vote!
